Hand made in Italy, each sneaker is made from 88 parts and takes 4 hours to construct
KOIO Collective launched in 2015 armed with the mission to create a dream sneaker with an “anti luxury” ethos, but be smart and adaptable to any situation. To fulfil this mission, founders Johannes and Chris, went straight to the source in the heart of Italy where craftsmen and women have spent centuries perfecting hand made classic shoes. KOIO scoured the land, visiting thirty-four different factories to find the perfect one, which matched their vision.
After a month of searching and having settled on a family-run factory in Civitanova, KOIO was able to create shoes that truly fused the artist of luxury with the ready for anything city life will throw at you. What has emerged is a sneaker of the highest quality, without screaming excess like some competitors. The sneakers are constructed in the finest calf-skin leathers and hand-finished with minute attention to detail. For more information on the factory, see the video below.
By promoting and selling direct to the consumer, KOIO Collective has been able to bring luxe label quality at a lower prices, which the founders realised early on at the course at Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. There is also a flagship NYC store and they are seeking additional retailers to promote their range of sneakers.
What makes the sneakers even more special is that they are unisex. The founders realised that some men wanted the women’s colours and women were demanding men’s shoes in smaller sizes. Our personal favourite is the Capri Taupe, a classic design in high quality material with a colour which is different without being too loud.
Available now, prices start at $248 for a low-top sneaker from the Capri range. Head to the KOIO Collective website to see the full range. If you’re in New York, why not pay a visit to the sneaker showroom in Lower Manhattan.
