While we battle a cool January, it might feel like summer is many months away, but it’s never a bad a time to start planning your next warm-weather vacation or even a weekend away in spring.
For Spring Summer 2018, Orlebar Brown has envisaged your arrival at the beach for the first time in the early summer. Imagine that fresh feeling of cool sand underfoot, scents of fresh hillside blooms as they drift down to the coast.
The colours behind Spring Summer 2018 were referenced using classic America surf images from the 60s. Imagine carefree afternoons spent with friends, with the gentle poolside vibe beginning to grow and the sunshine season rolling ever closer.
Shades include natural pastels, including light pink camellia, light yellow sorbet and powder blue. This is offset by berry highlights and moodier storm accents.
The Orlebar Brown sport collection has received a boost for SS18. The Jack has been split into two separate shorts, with Setter Sport (with the Setter 4.5″ inseam) and Bulldog Sport (with a slightly longer 6″ inseam). New Bulldog Sport colours include Lawn, Azure and Garnet.
There are also new products released with SS18. The Boston is a seersucker front-pocket short, whilst the Basset is a streamlined swimming trunk. Outerwear sees two new jackets, with the Murdoch and Middleton, whilst the Edgar blazer receives a smart pique rework.

We’ve picked our five favourite pieces from the latest Spring Summer 2018 collection and expect to see Short Motivation wearing these pieces over the next few months.
Setter Sport – Navy
Setter Sport in Navy
If you look through our social media, you’ll notice the Jack (now Bulldog Sport) was featured regularly.
The Jack was a classic. Well-priced, yet retaining the regular Bulldog fit and style, made out of a stretchable sport fabric, it was ideal for the pool and sport. The new Setter Sport, with it’s 4.5″ inseam, is going to be our choice for a sports short for future shoots.
Available for £95.
Sebastian LS in Sorbet
Sebastian LS in Sorbet
Although we prefer the short sleeve version in the warmer months, this long sleeve pique shirt is a design classic and perfect for evening drinks with friends or a walk through town on a summer’s evening.
Mix up the Sebastian LS in Sorbet with a pair of Bulldog Cotton shorts in Powder Blue and you have a classic style which will never go out of fashion.
The Sebastian LS is a tailored shirt, so go one size up if you’d like a classic fit.
Available for £135.
Bulldog Cotton Twill – Powder Blue
Bulldog Cotton Twill in Powder Blue
This classic cotton short is based on the regular Bulldog style and we’ve found it to be a hard wearing short which will see you through the seasons.
As referenced above, this Powder Blue spring hue will contrast against the Sebastian LS or SS in Sorbet. Alternatively, try a crisp white linen shirt or even a simple OB-T.
Available for £145.
Lucas Surf Stripe
Lucas Surf Stripe
One our favourite Orlebar Brown sweaters. This is a merino wool top, but with a lightweight finish, so perfectly ideal for a cooler spring evening.
Cut with a tailored finish, this pullover has ribbed cuffs and rather a tightly ribbed hem, we would advise going a size up (or two) unless you want an athletic finish.
The Lucas is suitable for layering above a lightweight t-shirt such as the OB-T, but we’d advise wearing the Lucas without an extra layer due to the athletic nature of the pullover.
Coming Soon for £195.
Pierce Pique in White Heron
Pierce Pique in White Heron
Another Short Motivation favourite. This sweatshirt is ideal both post-gym and for combining with a pair of jeans around town. Also perfect for a navy pair of Setter’s.
This sweat is made from a cotton pique, make it very breathable, with ribbed trims.
This sweat has a slight athletic cut, so you might want to go a size up if you need something more generous.
Available for £145.
There’s much more to enjoy from the Spring Summer 2018 collection and these are just a few highlights. Head over to the Orlebar Brown website to view the complete collection.
