There are a few brands we admire and support and one of these is Sorensen, headed up by Wayne Sorensen who we originally met in his former capacity as Design Director at our good friends, Orlebar Brown.
Wayne decided to take a fresh approach to both the design and launch of his products. Rather than release by season, the products are available by “issue” and the current collection is the strongest yet. With Issue 6 expected in April, and having an early sneak-peak at what’s coming, we’re looking forward to featuring a few of the forthcoming products here at Short Motivation.
At this stage, it might be worth referencing our Sorensen Brand Focus article, where Alex introduced the archetypes that form the foundation for the range and Wayne kindly answered a number of key questions about the brand.
If you reside in California or are planning on a vacation in the area, you’ll be pleased to know that Wayne Sorensen has set up a spring popup at Platform in Los Angeles, promoting the brand and the latest products. If you haven’t been already, then why not get down to the store yourself and view the Sorensen products in person? And if you would like to meet the energetic brains behind the brand, Wayne should be on hand to personally advise on the differences between the archetypes and styles available.
The Sorensen Los Angeles spring popup store can be found at PLATFORM / Space 101, 8830 Washington Blvd. Culver City, CA 90232 and is open from 11am through 7pm. Hurry though, the popup store is a limited run and is expected to be open until March (date to be confirmed).
In further Los Angeles news, Sorensen has recently announced that Ron Herman will be stocking the range as from this month. So, if you can’t get to the popup or happen to be in the Ron Herman store, then make sure you also take time to browse the latest pieces.
For those residing in the UK and cannot get to sunny California, then no need to despair. Matches Fashion has a number of Sorensen exclusives including an eye-catching Dancer Crew in a bright Daffodil Yellow which has caught our attention. A lightweight sweat, ideal for a cool early summer’s evening. Try mixing this up with a pair of navy shorts or, for a more relaxed look, we’d suggest the Dancer Trackpant in Dark Cobalt.
Alternatively, and of interest to Short Motivation readers, the new Dancer Slub-Jersey Short in Beige is ideal for lounging around the home, post-gym or matching up with a Sorensen shirt, such as the Driver Point-Collar Shirt in Sky Blue, for a more formal look in spring/summer.
