We’re always excited when a new Parke & Ronen collection is released and this season is no exception. Spring/Summer 2018 is a strong collection consisting of bright colours, asymmetrical accents, classic patterns and contrasting stripes.
We asked Parke & Ronen for the background behind the new release. Drawing inspiration from John Denver’s “Rocky Mountain High” and, more specifically, the lyrics “serenity of a clear blue mountain lake”, think back to your youth when Denver was signing about the earth, nature and the unique Rocky Mountain summers. Americana became as a backdrop when figuring the colour pallette and ideas for the pieces from the collection.
In addition, the latest collection is heavy on sportswear which are rich in natural worn patina, including washed lines, printed chambray denims and even lambskin suede, and ultralight cotton vooiles. Over 30 prints form this collection, drawing from all aspects of a Rocky Mountain summer, from fly-fishing, the flight of an eagle, fields of wildflowers and even a sophisticated cannabis print.
But, as you’d always expect from Parke & Ronen, poppy bright colours are contrasted against playful retro hues including tangerine and marigold. As you’d expect from moutain-inspired clothing, you’ll also find sand, khaki, sage and tan.
As this is Parke & Ronen’s 20th anniversary, archive pieces will also play a part in Spring/Summer 2018.
We’ve picked four key highlights from Spring/Summer 2018, below:
