Where we want to go

We want to visit Copenhagen

Denmark and Copenhagen are regularly voted the happiest country and city, respectively. The Scandinavian city is widely considered the epitome of cool, with the city and Danish design regularly featured across Instagram.

There really isn’t a bad time to visit either. You’ll love the Scandinavian vibe in cooler weather, where you can sit outside a cafe and sip a coffee wrapped in a warm blanket. But really, the best time to visit the city would be mid-Summer. For the most part the weather is pleasant, you can enjoy the many streets without the tourists, enjoy the culture and also visit some beautiful beaches for some swimming in the Øresund strait where the water is warm. These are many of the reasons we want to visit Copenhagen.

We want to stay at the The Nimb Hotel or The Nyhavn Hotel

The Nimb Hotel is truly stunning. Housed in a moorish building inside the famous Tivoli (the awesome amusement park) Gardens smack in the middle of Copenhagen. The Central Station is right opposite the hotel so access is incredibly easy. Most of the rooms feature a fireplace and the hotel is kitted out in full Bang & Olufsen TV and sound systems. The hotel also features several restaurants and a vinotek for drinks. This hotel is on the higher end of the price scale with prices starting from around the mid £300’s.

On the slightly more modern industrial feel is the Nyhavn 71 Hotel. Located in Nyhavn, the hotel is located in a harbour in central Copenhagen. Many of the key attractions and shopping areas such as Kongens Nytorv are located a mere 10 minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is set in two converted warehouses one red and one yellow. Both vary in design in the rooms with yellow eering on the more classic side and in the red room you have more contemporary furnishings. The hotel features SEA by Kiin Kiin, a restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Kiin Kiin.

We want to eat and drink at Noma and Coffee Collective

Having missed the opportunity in the past to dine at the famous Noma restaurant, which closed it’s doors at the end of 2016 to relocate to the edge of the ‘free city’ of Christiania neighbourhood in Copenhagen. We want to eat here when it opens in mid 2017 . The restaurant will feature its own vegetable farm the its own vegetable farm. The menu will change with the seasons and will feature vegetables from its own farm.

Luckily for us, Scandinavians know their coffee and Copenhagen is no different. The Coffee Collective in Copenhagen really is the one place to visit while there for us to enjoy our flat whites. With 3 locations and a roastery, Coffee Collective in Copenhagen is a famous coffee roasters who focus on creating the best coffee experience for customers by focusing on the whole process of making coffee, with it’s micro roastery, shops and even a coffee school.

We want to workout at the Vesterbronx Gym:

Naturally, there are many gym chains in Copenhagen. A fairly new gym in Copenhagen, Vesterbronx, has all the great facilities including Astro Turf, Prowlers, Free Weights and a lot of martial arts equipment.

We want to visit Christiania:

Christiania is a small ‘free town’ which was founded in 1971 by squatters and artists and sits on an 84 acre abandoned military site. It has vibrant scenery as you walk around with plenty of greenery and a lot of cool wall murals to look at. Apparently, it is beyond the reach of the Danish law and when you enter it says you are now leaving the European Union – may be a good test for us as Brits to see what the future holds?
